Project Description: SafeMask Attendance is an AI-powered, contactless attendance system developed by Team SafeSmart Squad from Apple International Community School, Dubai. Designed to promote hygiene and smart infrastructure, it simultaneously detects face mask compliance and marks attendance using a machine learning model trained in PictoBlox. This eliminates the need for manual registers, fingerprint scanners, or shared devices—making the process fast, safe, and fully touch-free.
To enhance functionality, we introduced Smart Data Logging, which records attendance with date and time stamps in an Excel sheet. A unique feature allows data download via a single Space Bar press—ensuring hygiene and ease of use. Inspired by the challenges faced during the pandemic, our project reflects care, innovation, and readiness for the future.
Aligned with SDG Goal 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SafeMask Attendance reimagines everyday systems using AI, ML, and human-centered design to build safer, smarter spaces in schools, offices, and beyond.
