ATMOSPHERIC WATER GENERATORS (AWG)
Team: Hydro-Gen
Project Details
Project Description: An Atmospheric Water Generator (AWG) is an innovative device that produces clean drinking water by extracting moisture from the air. Even in dry environments, the atmosphere contains humidity, and this technology captures and converts that invisible moisture into safe, drinkable water.
The process begins when the AWG pulls in surrounding air using a fan. The air is then cooled to a temperature where the water vapor condenses into liquid droplets. This condensed water is collected and passed through a series of filters and a UV sterilizer to remove any impurities or harmful microbes, ensuring that the water is pure and safe for consumption. Finally, the clean water is stored in a tank, ready for use.
AWGs are especially useful in areas where access to clean water is limited, such as remote villages, disaster-struck regions, and places suffering from drought. By using only air and electricity—often powered by renewable sources like solar panels—these machines provide a sustainable and eco-friendly solution to the global water crisis.
This project directly supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation, which aims to ensure access to safe and affordable water for all. It also contributes to other goals like SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
Overall, our Atmospheric Water Generator project showcases how technology can offer practical solutions to real-world problems while promoting sustainability and innovation for a better future.
