Development of Artificial Reefs for Marine Life
Project Theme: Life Underwater and Life on Land
Project Name: Creating Artificial Reefs for Marine Creatures
The goal: To develop a robot that deploys artificial reefs to help preserve ocean ecosystems.
Robots Used: Lego WeDo 2.0, Arduino Uno
Sensors Used: Motion Sensor, Motor, 4 Servo Motors, Joystick
Code Description: The motion sensor of the WeDo 2.0 robot asks and informs about the creatures it encounters due to artificial intelligence, detects suitable empty areas and leaves artificial reefs in the appropriate area in the water using the motor. The robot arm connected to the Arduino Uno uses the joystick to place the reefs in the appropriate place via servo motors. Since two robots cannot be connected to PictoBlox at the same time, we coded the robot arm working with the Aduino Uno separately and the WeDo 2.0 robot separately in PictoBlox.
Anti-Sleep AI Asistant
Our AI assistant, designed as an in-vehicle software, aims to accompany the driver and enhance road safety. We trained the assistant using machine learning techniques to detect signs of driver drowsiness. When drowsiness is detected, the assistant automatically activates and initiates a conversation with the driver.
Alternatively, the driver can activate the assistant by saying “Hey.” After chatting as long as desired, the driver can end the conversation with a simple phrase, which is recognized and processed using natural language processing (NLP) commands.
If the driver fails to respond during the conversation, the assistant triggers a horn sound to alert them—helping prevent the risk of falling asleep mid-conversation.
We aim to license and commercialize our project for long-distance drivers and anyone who spends significant time behind the wheel.

Eco Ballast
We are high school students from Gaziantep, Türkiye, dedicated to protecting marine ecosystems. Our project addresses the environmental threat of ballast water, which can harm marine life and spread invasive species. We developed an innovative, eco-friendly system that safely deters sea creatures by triggering a natural “threat response,” encouraging them to move away from ship intake zones. This allows vessels to take in ballast water without damaging local ecosystems. We also built an educational website to raise awareness about marine pollution and invasive species. Our goal is to promote sustainable solutions and inspire action to protect our oceans.
Connecting Hands, Bridging Voices
“Connecting Hands, Bridging Voices” is an AI-powered communication tool designed to support the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The project uses artificial intelligence to translate sign language into text or speech and can also convert spoken words into written text. This helps make communication easier between deaf individuals and the hearing community in everyday situations like school, hospitals, or public spaces.
The project fits under the Good Health and Wellbeing category because it promotes mental and emotional wellbeing by reducing isolation and improving social interaction. It ensures that everyone has the opportunity to express themselves and feel included, which is essential for good mental health. By supporting accessible communication, the project also helps people access services like healthcare and education more effectively. In short, it’s a step toward a more inclusive and healthier society where every voice — spoken or signed — is heard and valued.
Smart Faucets
With the smart faucets we have developed,we designed an artificial intelligence robot that raises awareness about the duration of washing fruits and vegetables.
Shape Your Lesson
hape Your Lesson” is an AI-powered educational tool developed by Team Tarhan Code from Türkiye. It enables teachers to understand student emotions in real time using facial expression recognition and machine learning. The system identifies emotional states like happy, sad, angry, or neutral and gives feedback to teachers based on the overall class mood. It also includes an AI-based attendance feature and an emotion-matching game for student engagement. Built entirely with Pictoblox and Teachable Machine, our project makes classrooms more interactive and empathetic. The goal is simple: Let the class speak—without saying a word.
AllergyAlert
Using key AI features such as text recognition and a ChatGPT model, AllergyAlert helps prevent allergic reactions and fatalities by alerting users to potential allergens. It has three features. The first one is the Label Inspector which scan’s labels for the user’s pre-entered allergens, warning them if the food was unsafe to eat. The second feature is the Ingredient Inferencesor and it uses the ChatGPT model to take its previous knowledge and inform the reader if a certain meal contains an allergen. This is especially helpful when there are no labels. The final feature is the shop. The shop is the app’s source of income. It sells medical needs, such as allergy bracelets and allergy tags, at a lower cost than typical ones allowing people who may not have much money, to still be able to afford live-saving necessities. The app also has a key SOS feature in case the suer is having an allergic reaction. The user would press the button and a loud warning will be let out to notify other surrounding the user while the user’s pre-entered emergency contacts pop up to help people assist the user.

THE VEREON -Interactive access control infrastructure solution
VEREON is a face recognition-based access control system designed to automate authorization. It uses facial images to instantly identify authorized individuals, controlling access to restricted areas.
Lack of proper access control is a major problem for Examination Management in Kenya. According to citizen digital – citizen.digital.com, out of 965,501 candidates that sat for the Secondary Education exams in the year 2024, 621 were reported to have been found engaging in cases if impersonation. The issues was also addressed by the Cabinet Secretary for Education on 13th November 2024 via Tv47 Kenya. VEREON aims to create a verifiable access control system that will enable examination invigilators to easily identify registered candidates.
In line with this year’s theme, VEREON embodies this spirit by, creating smarter, more resilient access control system that aligns perfectly with the global push for innovation development tying directly to SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure
Industrial Machine Monitoring & Maintenance System
Our project is a smart, modular system designed to monitor industrial machines in real-time using vibration, sound, current, and voltage sensors. Each machine has a dedicated module that sends live data to a centralized PictoBlox IoT dashboard. This helps factory managers detect early signs of malfunction and perform timely maintenance — reducing downtime, preventing failures, and improving overall efficiency. Inspired by UN SDG 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, we aim to bring smart monitoring to every corner of the factory floor.
