The AI Robo City Challenge has 11 real-world challenges. The participants need to complete as many challenges in 5 minutes. They can plan their strategy and choose the order in which their robot will tackle  these challenges.

Guidelines

  • You can participate in anyone of the following 3 age groups:

Elementary

(7 - 10yrs Old)

  • A team consists of 2 or 3 participants +1 mentor
  • All the participants must meet the age group and team size criteria.
  • For teams of two, both members must be in the same age group. If their ages differ, choose the group based on the elder member’s age.
  • The team must complete the registration process on the official Codeavour 5.0 website. Onsite registrations will not be accepted.

General Information

  • In the Codeavour 5.0 International, Track 2 or Robo City Challenge is a physical robotics competition.
  • Teams are required to design and build their robot using Quarky and complete the pick and place tasks of the AI Robo City Arena.
  • The Robot can be Autonomous or Manually controlled and must be Do-It-Yourself (DIY). The tasks involve AI, Robotics, Coding, and ML.
  • Note:
    • Manual Control: The manual control option allows participants to directly control their robot’s movements using their device.
    • Autonomous Robot: The autonomous robot option involves programming the robot to follow a predetermined path using the line-following technique and complete the mission by placing the objects in the destined position.
    • Track 2 of Codeavour International will help students develop their skills and creativity in the following areas:
      1. General Coding
      2. Robotics concept
      3. Engineering Skills
      4. Artificial Intelligence
      5. Strategies planning to solve the challenges
      6. Real-world problem solving, Teamwork, Debugging

Before the Match:

  • Here are some key points that participants must be aware of before the match
    1. The robot should be programmed using PictoBlox only. You can use any coding environment inside PictoBlox.
    2. The participants must make a robot using the Quarky only. The robots must be fully assembled in advance before the commencement of the round.
    3. The participants must verify their robot by the designated codeavour robot verification team to ensure it meets the specified requirements at a physical venue.
    4. Participating teams will be informed of the time slot and game field table before the match
    5. Before the competition, the teams will get 10 minutes to test and set up their robots in the allotted practice arena.

Game Field:

  • Here are the details related to the game field/arena.
    1. Important game field dimensions:
      1. Game field size: 93 x 45 Inches
      2. Pathway size: 15 cm
      3. Width of black line: 1.5 cm
    2. The game field/arena is marked at various places with red outlines for pick-up and green outlines for drop locations. Initially, an object is placed on the red outlined area, and a robot will be responsible for moving it to the drop location.

FAQ's for Track Two

The AI Robo City Challenge is a dynamic, hands-on robotics competition where participants employ Quarky to tackle challenges echoing the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. There are 11 tasks to conquer within a set time frame. Get set, dive in, foster creativity, teamwork, and harness vital 21st-century skills.

The game field size is 93×45 Inches with a path size of 15cm and a width of the black line at 1.5 cm.

The organizing team will set up the camera on the competition arena, the camera will be placed at a distance of 23cm from the Arena for AI-based challenges (challenge 4 and 5).

There are 11 challenges, including tasks like water treatment plant completion, solar panel installation, and AI-powered residential waste collection, among others.

The robot size should be 20x20x20cm (LBH maximum) with a maximum weight of 1.0 kg.

Yes, teams can choose additional construction components such as Lego components, 3D printed parts, and more for their robot design.

For each foul, a negative five (-5) points will be deducted from the total score. Fouls include deviation from the designated path and team members touching the robot without instruction.

The mentor or coach’s responsibility is limited to mentorship and guidance; they should not be directly involved in making or controlling the robot. Direct involvement can lead to the disqualification of the team.

Challenges are scored based on specific criteria, including full points, half points, and zero points, depending on the placement of objects inside the designated area.

Yes, teams can switch their robot’s operational mode (autonomous or manual) using the Blue Card, granting flexibility in adapting to various challenges.

Yellow Cards exempt teams from negative scoring for specific fouls, Red Cards enable teleportation strategy, and Blue Cards allow switching between manual and autonomous mode.

Only team members are allowed near the competition (pit) area. mentors, coaches, teachers, parents, and guardians are not permitted inside the Pit area.

Teams are allowed for minor changes/fixes in the robot during their 5 minutes; no additional time will be given in case of technical issues.

Teams must adhere to participation and submission guidelines. These include uploading photos, videos, and comprehensive details about their robot on the Codeavour 5.0 submission platform.

Teams can unlock a Yellow Card by completing specific challenges (e.g., challenges 4, 5, and 6), which exempt them from negative scoring for particular fouls.

For each foul, a deduction of negative five (-5) points will be made from the total score.

The teams must use Quarky as the specified microcontroller; no other microcontroller is permitted.

The entire design of the robot must not have sharp edges that may harm the game field or people around it, and robot parts should not be made with hazardous materials.

Teams have only two chances to waive off negative scoring due to fouls using Yellow Cards, so they must use them judiciously.

The Pit Area is marked with yellow and black floor marking tape, providing a designated space for team activities and observations.
