A 17-year-old school girl build Humanoid Robot Project: Sakhi to help Alzheimer Patients and Blind People

This is how Samriddhi Kori, a 17-year-old innovator, built a humanoid robot, which can be widely used in healthcare and security as a guide, entertainer, musician, comedian, and server. Sakhi can assist Alzheimer patients, guide blind men, safeguard your house and belongings, serve, play music, crack jokes, and will accompany you and keep you occupied at all times.

Samriddhi’s Coding Journey!

Her first encounter with coding occurred when she was 15 years old with the Codeavour AI and Coding Competition, and since then, she has dedicated countless hours to mastering this craft. The intricate logic and creative problem-solving opportunities offered by coding have always intrigued her. Over the years, she has honed her skills in various programming languages and expanded my knowledge of AI technologies, recognizing their immense potential to revolutionize industries and transform lives.

The Codeavour competition has been a platform where she has been able to put her skills to the test and showcase her passion for coding and AI. Each year, she has developed innovative projects that tackle real-world challenges, leveraging the power of technology to bring about positive change. From creating AI-powered healthcare solutions to developing sustainable smart city models, these projects have been a testament to the limitless possibilities that coding and AI offer.

Winning Codeavour for three consecutive years has been an incredible honor and a testament to the hard work and dedication she has poured into my projects. However, her journey does not end with these victories. Instead, it has only fueled her determination to further explore the vast frontiers of coding and AI, seeking new ways to contribute to society and make a lasting impact.

What Motivated her to Create this Innovation?

Nowadays, the percentage of people with Alzheimer’s increases with age: 5% of people aged 65 to 74, 13% of people aged 75–84, and 33% of people aged 85 and older have Alzheimer’s dementia. 33 million people are living with avoidable blindness, and 260 million have avoidable moderate-to-severe visual impairment, simply because they can’t access the right kind of care.

Sakhi acts as their personal assistant and provides the right care to people suffering from Alzheimer’s or who are visually impaired. My humanoid robot can be programmed to act as the companion that reminds the patient to take their medicine on time, do their household work with ease, and entertain them in their free time.

How does Sakhi-The Humanoid Robot Work?

Talking about her project Sakhi: The Humanoid Robot: She has created Sakhi using Evive as the main motherboard, which sends signals to the other microcontrollers. I have used 2 Arduino Mega and 3 Arduino UNO’s and various other sensors. She has programmed Sakshi using PictoBlox, and IFTTT is used to send messages and automate calling. AI and ML features are used for image and speech recognition.

Samridhhi’s Codeavour Journey

Samriddhi has shown her talent in Codeavour 2020, 2021, and 2022. She has created projects to avoid unethical driving in 2021 and for the Rapid Health Emergency Traffic System in 2020. Codeavour 2022 was a consecutive win among 3 lakh participants with my humanoid robot Sakhi.

She mentioned that she was grateful to Codeavour for providing a platform that recognizes and nurtures young talent in the field of coding. Through this competition, she has not only gained invaluable experience but also had the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, mentors, and industry experts who have inspired and guided her along the way.

She firmly believes that coding and AI hold the key to addressing many of the challenges we all face today. With their transformative potential, we can tackle issues such as healthcare accessibility, environmental sustainability, and social inequality. Her aim is to continue pushing the boundaries of innovation, harnessing the power of coding and AI to create a better, brighter future for all.
